In a world of Selfies, Sex Tapes and Puppy Dog Filters an ageing Prom Queen searches for the 'fountain of youth' by any means necessary.
CHARACTER PROFILES
ALYSSA
Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
Profession: Veteran Prom Queen
Cultural Background: Dirt Poor Orphan born in the Deep South.
Relationship to the Story: A still stunningly beautiful woman who has been travelling through Middle America with life partner Brandon.
Alyssa appears at first like she is under Brandon’s thumb as she is used as bait to attract teenage girls - all of which Brandon murders.
By all accounts Alyssa is suffering from a lot of internal pain and all she wants is attention from anyone - Brandon in particular.
But, it isn’t going to happen.
Let’s be honest.
Because on this night Brandon wants to get even ‘closer’ to the Teen Prom Queen than he ever has done before.
Has he fallen in love with this one?
But, why?
That wasn’t the deal.
The deal was that they would both find the perfect antidote to everlasting beauty by finding the right match for Alyssa.
But all Brandon seems to want to do is feed his ego and Alyssa will not stand for that any longer.
BRANDON
Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
Profession: Criminal Psychological-turned Mental Health Counsellor
Cultural Background: Middle-Class All American.
Relationship to the Story: Meeting Alyssa at a Mental Health Facility for serious offenders where he worked as a Counsellor, Brandon has broken the code of ethics and fled with her - promising that they will find a cure for the curse of ageing.
He did at least start with strong feelings for Alyssa, but at this point he has become addicted to the attention and the ego-centric manner in which he is now living his life.
Maybe he is beginning to treat Alyssa just like how men treat every other 40 year old woman - like an invisible presence.
He likes the power and the thrill of the catch but there is something in this new Prom Teen that penetrates his emotions. So, how long can he go on like this?
He is shocked - despite what the old him would have thought - that Alyssa confronts him and has no idea that she really means it this time and there is no smart way out.
What is he to do?
Admit it and ask for forgiveness?
Or dismiss Alyssa’s feelings like they are irrelevant?
MARY ELLEN
Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
Profession: Former Texas Beauty Queen-turned Oil Billionaire Wife.
Cultural Background: Born of poor immigrant stock with aspirations of greatness.
Relationship to the Story: The supreme leader of the ‘Ladies Tea Party’, Mary Ellen is the ‘Trophy Wife’ of the third most wealthiest Businessman in the United States.
Born in Roma, Texas to immigrant Parents she managed to fight her way out of poverty through both her aesthetic gifts and her deep intelligence, graduating the University of Texas with a Masters degree in Social Studies and a husband who inherited the largest oil fields in the western world.
Now a ‘mother’ by trade she takes Alyssa under wing as the ‘new bride’, desperately striving to show this outsider how it is to be a lady in this society.
But it doesn’t work.
Alyssa is beyond help, that’s clear. Let’s just hope that she can repress her violent tendencies for just about long enough to give Mary Ellen enough time to plot Alyssa’s exit.
REVEREND YOUNGER
Age: 55 years
Gender: Male
Profession: Baptist Preacher
Cultural Background: Deep South descendent of Klansmen.
Relationship to the Story: Adopted Father of Alyssa who believes that taking on a child such with her cultural background will somehow negate the ancestral guilt that plagues his ancestral line.
Brutal, handsome and powerful he comes from a long line of men who, in one way or another, have also held positions of influence. It just so happens that Reverend Younger is a Baptist Preacher. But it could have been anything.
Highly respected in his community for his supposed direct-from-the-lord miracles, he appears to have it all: a beautiful marriage and adoring children. But he is blind to the fact that his family is imploding.
Alyssa has brought home a ‘boy’ for the first time. Signalling the end of the days. The Reverend ensures that Alyssa understands what it is to open the door to this “Den of Iniquity.” Perhaps though, he should look within himself, or at least face up to his actions, to know where this deep envy is coming from.
And yet Alyssa continues to defy, but not for so long he hopes - for he is ready to settle her down with a new billionaire friend who needs to finally create an heir to his throne. And what better mother than a twenty-something Prom Queen from a respected southern family?
The Reverend hope that riches will finally await for his family, if only Alyssa can see this through.
